What the mouthpiece does

This is a slow-twist snaffle, not a severe "barbed wire" or corkscrew bit.

The gentle spiral increases pressure slightly compared to a smooth snaffle because it concentrates the contact over a smaller surface area. In experienced hands it can:

• Improve responsiveness.
• Encourage a horse that leans on the bit to lighten up.
• Provide clearer lateral and direct-rein signals.
