Original early 1900s advertising/souvenir plate, pink and white porcelain construction featuring gold trimmed raised swirl designs at rim and multi-color transfer image of CALCASIEU RICE MILL, WELSH, LA. in center. Measures 8 inches diameter. Mfr marked on back with crown over B.R.C./RACINE (?)/BAVARIA and WHEELOCK/MADE IN GERMANY/FOR/L.L. MORSE & SONS/JENNINGS & WELSH, LA./DRESDEN.
Lucius Lyman Morse (1835-1921) was born in Massachusetts and came to Southwestern Louisiana after the Civil War. He opened L.L. Morse & Sons Hardware in Jennings in 1894 and was a prominent figure in the Jennings area until his death.
Light wear to gold trim and a small chip to rear rim at approx. 5 o'clock (does not affect frontal appearance and no cracks or other damage). Image details on design are nice and sharp.
