1953 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal – National Playing Fields Association – Original Box

Original 1953 Queen Elizabeth II Coronation souvenir medal, issued by the National Playing Fields Association to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953.

The obverse features a portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II with the inscription:

“QUEEN ELIZABETH II CROWNED 2 JUNE 1953”

The reverse is inscribed:

“ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL PLAYING FIELDS ASSOCIATION – PRESIDENT H.R.H. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH”

and features four crown motifs.

The medal comes with its original red presentation box, decorated with a crown and:

“Elizabeth R. 1953”

The inside of the box is marked:

“CORONATION E II R 1953 SOUVENIR”

A lovely original piece of British Royal and Coronation memorabilia dating from the beginning of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

Condition: Vintage/pre-owned. The medal has surface marks, scratches and some areas of discolouration consistent with age. The original presentation box shows wear, rubbing and deterioration around the edges and corners.
