Antique 1902 Rowntree & Co. Coronation Chocolate Tin – Edward VII & Queen Alexandra

Offered is an **original antique 1902 Rowntree & Co. commemorative chocolate tin** featuring portraits of **King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra**.

The tin is prominently marked **“CORONATION DAY – JUNE 26TH 1902.”** The June 26 date is historically significant because it was the **originally scheduled date for the coronation of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra**. The ceremony was postponed when the King became ill with appendicitis and was eventually held on **August 9, 1902**.

This is a wonderful piece of **Edwardian royal and advertising history**, as well as an attractive example of early 20th-century confectionery packaging.

### Condition

The tin is approximately **124 years old** and has **significant age-related wear**, as shown in the photographs.

There is considerable loss and flaking to the original printed decoration, particularly around the portraits and along the edges. There are also scratches, chips, scuffs and areas of exposed metal consistent with its age and previous use.

Despite the wear, the **Edward VII and Queen Alexandra portraits remain clearly visible**, as does the important **“June 26TH 1902”** date.
