Hand Whittled & Carved in 1982 in Arkansas, United States, and carved with basswood obtained from the hills of Arkansas, this one-of-a-kind piece would make a charming addition to any room. James C. Parks was the artist/carver/whittler and James was diagnosed with Emphazima from a work environmental cause when he was 40 and died when he was 42.  To pass the time he learned to carve and carved everyday, quickly learning the basics and surpassing a lot of other carvers. He learned his skills from Harold Inlow, another professional carver/Whittler. He did not use a machine at all and only whittled using a small knife and his hands. This piece as was most items, was not duplicated. It is a one of a kind. My mother painted & stained them as James (my father) could not stand any strong smells because of his lung disease. He attended shows in Arkansas when he could. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 42. And carved about 25 cowboys during this two year span.
