Vintage black-and-white real photographic postcard captioned “Pump Room and Bath Abbey, Bath. 14686.” The street-level view looks directly toward the magnificent west front of Bath Abbey, with the classical Pump Room building to the right and pedestrians and period wheeled traffic in the square.

The reverse is a J. Salmon Ltd., Sevenoaks “Salmon Series” real-photo back and states Printed in England. The card is posted with an orange British 2d stamp and a Bath cancellation. It is addressed to Mr D. Scott, 38 Dempster Street, Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland.

A substantial handwritten message on the reverse thanks the recipient for a parcel and discusses the sender’s stay and travels. The writing and postal use add period social-history character, even though the cancellation date is not fully clear in the photograph.

Visible condition includes age toning, edge/corner wear, postal handling and light surface marks. Both sides are shown and should be used as the complete condition guide.
