Joe Sakic, Patrick Roy, and Peter Forsberg are three of the top players of their era, which makes it more impressive they all played on the same team. Arguably one of the best trios of all time, the three Hall-of-Famers helped put the Colorado Avalanche on the map right from the start of the franchise's time in Colorado by winning the 1996 Stanley Cup. Sakic won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of that playoff run with 18 goals and 34 total points. After Sakic won the Hart Memorial Trophy as the MVP of the 2000-01 season, the Avalanche went on another run to capture their second Stanley Cup led by Roy who won the Conn Smythe Trophy this time. A couple years later Forsberg won the Hart Memorial Trophy himself in a season he led the league in points with 106. The accolades between Sakic, Roy, and Forsberg are endless and they had the team success to go with it. All three have been inducted to the Avalanche Hall of Fame, had their number retired by Colorado, were named to the NHL 100th Anniversary Team, and been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, receiving some of the highest honors in the sport.
