Striking vintage studio art glass paperweight bowl by American glass artist Marty Christy, hand signed “Christy” and dated 1985 on the underside.

This substantial sculptural piece combines the visual weight and depth of a large art-glass paperweight with a recessed bowl form. The exceptionally thick clear glass contains layers of aqua, turquoise, deep violet-purple and opaque white, creating an atmospheric, almost underwater effect that changes dramatically as the piece is viewed from different angles.

Scattered trapped bubbles and organic internal inclusions add further dimension to the glass. The irregular, softly rounded profile emphasizes its handmade studio character, while the small recessed opening contrasts beautifully with the massive glass body.
