Up for your consideration is a rare original German military Spielmannsflöte (fife) dating to the World War II period, circa 1935–1945. This traditional transverse marching flute was used by Spielmannszug military marching bands, accompanying drums during parades, ceremonies, and military signals.

The instrument is crafted from black ebonite (hard rubber) and fitted with white metal metal ferrules on both ends. It features the classic one-piece construction with six finger holes and a raised embouchure hole, characteristic of German military fifes of the period. This type of instrument was commonly produced in B-flat (B♭), the standard tuning for German military marching bands.

The fife is unmarked, as many military-issued examples were supplied without a maker's mark. It remains in very good original condition, showing only light wear consistent with age and use, with no cracks, repairs, or structural damage.

A wonderful and increasingly hard-to-find piece of WWII militaria, ideal for collectors of German military equipment, historical musical instruments, or marching band memorabilia.
