Watcombe Pottery, Torquay, made this lovely trifoil serving dish with handle, hand decorated in slip with 2 cottages and the riddle “As I was going to St Ives, I met a man with seven Wives, Each wife had seven sacks, Each sack had seven cats, Each cat had seven kits, Kits cats, sacks and wives, How many were there going to St Ives”; It is impressed WATCOMBE, TORQUAY, ENGLAND, used from the late 1920’s to 1945. The dish is in great condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, no wear or fading; measures 21.5cm long, 21.5cm wide. 6cm high to top of handle.
