Vintage West African Bogolanfini (Mud Cloth) Textile from Mali 47”x70” UNIQUE 👀.

Traditional mud cloth, now called Bogolanfini depicting various animals and two hunters. The use of fermented river mud as a painting pattern on cotton is typical of the Bamana (Bamara) of Mali, centred on the Beledougou area north and northeast of Bamako. Women spin the locally-grown cotton, then men weave long bands that are joined together. The designs of Bogolanfini are traditionally made by women.

Features figurative storytelling symbols including traditional hunters, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, and geometric border patterns. Historically worn as ceremonial garments or protective tunics by hunters, and widely appreciated today as fine textile art or home decor.

Overall in very good condition- not sure if ever used or displayed. No noticed issues or flaws.
