Returning Troops YMCA Statue of Liberty New York City 1919 Postcard
Historic World War I homecoming postcard featuring the Statue of Liberty, an airplane flying overhead and the patriotic message, “Well Done Men, America Greets You.” The reverse was specially printed by the Department for Reception of Returning Troops and records the soldier’s arrival aboard the transport Julia Luckenbach on June 28, 1919, before continuing to Camp Merritt. An especially interesting military and social-history postcard connected to the return of American troops following World War I.
