The historic Moving Stairway in St. Joseph, Michigan, built in 1908, was a unique trolley-like cable system operating on tracks. It carried visitors up and down the steep bluff from the St. Joseph River docks and Silver Beach area to Lake Boulevard and downtown hotels, becoming a popular subject for vintage postcards
