Another reluctant sale!

In case you don’t know, Asba started making drums in 1928 and were France’s answer to Gretsch, Slingerland, Ludwig etc. and, had they made more drums, would also be ‘household names’ today. Asba was a highly innovative brand and the quality is exceptional - as you can see from the pictures and features of this snare drum…

Not many of these around! I’ll be sad to see it go but, like some of my other Asba drums, it needs to be played, added to somebody’s collection, or placed in a museum!

It’s all original, down to the snare wires, damper and strainer. New heads, obviously…

The material is ‘Fibrecel’, which is a composite of wood fibres and resin - very rare at the time and even rarer now. The shell is 5.5” deep and about 1/4” thick - about twice to thickness of other shells that were/are made this way (eg. Pearl). 

Condition is fantastic - it’s finished in a piano black gloss on the outside and a white on the inner. It certainly brings something to the party - really pops when played and has a good range. Great presence, if that’s what you’re seeking. 

Preference would be for buyer to collect from Kent, England, but I’d consider meeting further afield or shipping to a UK or overseas address (via eBay’s Global Shipping Programme or separately). Any of these options would incur extra costs for the buyer, however, as I’d want to package the drums properly.
