THE FIGHTING YANK #2 — CBCS 2.0 (GD)
Nedor Publications · November 1942 · Off-White/White Pages
CBCS Certification #7002223-AB-003

Early-issue WWII patriotic hero Golden Age, graded and encapsulated by CBCS. Please read the condition notes below before bidding — this is an honest low-grade copy with a disclosed defect.

"America's Bravest Defender"

Second issue of Nedor's flagship patriotic title, cover-dated November 1942 — with the United States less than a year into the war. The Fighting Yank, in his tricorn hat, domino mask and green cape, drives a fist into a green-coated thug on a rooftop while a blonde woman in red recoils at left, a bald, pointed-eared figure looms behind his cape, and a third man lunges for a device beside the chimney. A scroll at lower right promises "66 PAGES OF ACTION COMICS IN FULL COLOR," and a box at lower left reads "BUY WAR BONDS AND STAMPS FOR VICTORY!"

Why collectors want it

Fighting Yank is one of the cornerstone Nedor/Better titles and the Yank is among the better-remembered patriotic heroes of the era — a character who has been revived repeatedly by later publishers. Issue #2 is a genuine early book, published two months after the first, and Nedor print runs and survival rates are low. Copies of any grade turn up infrequently.

Condition notes — please read

  • CBCS 2.0 (GD) with Off-White/White page quality — notably good paper for the grade
  • CBCS label notation: "Cover detached."
  • Additional wear visible in the photos: edge and corner wear, chipping, spine wear, tanning to the cover edges, and general soiling
  • Cover colors remain strong — the red logo and orange rooftop still carry well and the book displays nicely face-out
  • Please review photos closely; they show the actual book being sold
