CATMAN COMICS #12 — CGC 2.0 (GD)
Continental Magazines · July 1942 · Cream to Off-White Pages
CGC Certification #0946091012
Scarce wartime Golden Age Cat-Man in a CGC Universal (blue label) holder. Please read the condition notes below carefully before bidding — this is an honest low-grade copy with disclosed defects.
The cover
"America's Most Thrilling Fast-Action Adventure Stories." Cat-Man stands wide-legged in the spotlight, his cat-eared shadow thrown huge across a brick wall stenciled "POST NO BILLS," with Kitten — his young costumed partner — squared up beside him. Four gangsters close in from both sides, pistols and revolvers drawn. Classic Charles Quinlan composition: bold silhouette, hot yellow spotlight, red cape.
Cover blurbs feature "The Deacon and Mickey!" and "Little Leaders," "Blackout" and "many other Sensational Adventure Strips!"
Why collectors want this run
Cat-Man is one of the more sought-after Golden Age heroes outside the major publishers, and Kitten is among the earliest costumed kid-sidekick heroines in comics — a character who draws real interest today. Continental/Holyoke print runs and survival rates are low, and mid-1942 wartime issues are genuinely hard to find in any grade.

Back cover bonus
Full-page Captain Aero Comics house ad — the "Keep 'Em Flying" magazine — promoting Chuck and Steve in "P.T. Patrol (The Mosquito Boats)," plus The Flagman, Alias "X," Solar, and Captain Aero's Sky Scouts. A great WWII-era period piece.
Condition notes — please read
CGC 2.0 with Cream to Off-White page quality. CGC has notated the following on the label:
Additional wear visible in the photos includes edge chipping and wear along the top and bottom, spine wear, general soiling, a tear at the right edge near the "Blackout" box, and old pencil notation on the logo. Colors remain surprisingly bright for the grade and the cover displays well face-out.
This is offered as a reader/filler or a placeholder for a tough book in a tough run — priced accordingly. Photos show the actual book being sold; please examine them closely and ask any questions before bidding.
