Art Deco antique drawstring lavender/mauve bag in fine glass microbeads, circa the 1920’s. French or Continental European origin.

The purse is worked in fine knitted micro-size glass seed beads. It showcases striking geometric and stylized peacock-feather motifs, executed in rich jewel tones of cobalt blue, emerald green, and amber, amid a main field of lavender/mauve and red vine scroll infill.

Drawstring is a twisted purple/mauve cord feeding through cord loops along the top edge. Two fabric-wrapped decorative drawstring pulls at each end. There’s a beaded drop hanging from the bottom, which probably suspended a small tassel which is now lacking. The lining consists of purple/mauve silk.

Condition is very good for a beaded purse this age:  there is minor bead loss and thread exposure scattered throughout, including minor fraying/wear at the top edge where the beadwork meets the drawstring casing. Silk lining is intact.

Measures 10” by 8”.
