WPA (Works Progress Administration) pieces were handcrafted by New Deal artisans in the Depression Era and the government paid the person to make the piece.  WPA furniture was utilitarian and functional.  Closets were not usual fixtures in adobe homes so roperos (wardrobes) were commonplace.  This piece is made from very thick pine and is very heavy.  It is constructed using the Spanish Colonial design of mortise and tenon and large dovetails.  It is totally hand carved in the sunburst design.  It measures 36.5" wide x 25" deep x 48" tall.  WPA is extremely collectible and very, very hard to find.   Freight/Shipping TBD.
