A Rare Old Authentic Big Soviet Artwork Color linocut titled "Kiev. University named after T. Shevchenko," created in 1959 by the Ukrainian graphic artist Galina Ilinichna Garkavenko (1933–2008) 
 Measures 15" x 22" (37,5 x 55 cm), printed part size: 9" x 16" (23 x 41,5 cm). Made in USSR in 1959. Good condition - see photo for all details. It is part of a series of linocuts dedicated to Kyiv that received widespread acclaim and was featured in publications like "The Exams of Kyiv Artists" in 1966. The piece depicts the iconic "Red Building" of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv during a snowy winter, framed by bare trees and power lines. The "Kyiv" series was Garkavenko’s diploma project at the Kyiv Art Institute in 1959. Galina Garkavenko was a prominent Ukrainian graphic artist and painter. She was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1964) and was awarded the A. Kuindzhi Memorial Medal in 1973.

I am selling these items from Ukraine now, the post is working a little slow, but as usual dependable. I was born in the USSR and I was 26 years old when Ukraine became independent in 1991 in accordance with Article 3 of Treaty on the Creation of the USSR (1922, December 30). I know very well the difference between living in a totalitarian country and living in a free one and I believe that Ukraine has the right to exist as a free and independent nation and I am participating in charity projects in Ukraine now.
