Item Description: Antique Victorian Cranberry Glass Pickle Castor - Silver-Plated Frame. This is an authentic 19th-century Victorian pickle castor. This striking piece features a brilliant, rich cranberry glass insert with an optic thumbprint (coin spot) pattern. The glass is a beautiful rich red under direct light. The insert sits securely inside a highly ornate, silver-plated frame featuring a decorative sweeping handle, scrollwork accents, and a built-in hook on the side designed to hold serving tongs. We do not have the tongs.
Condition Report:Glass: No chips or cracks.Frame & Lid: Aged patina with some tarnish and minor surface wear consistent with age. Meriden hallmarks visible on the base of the frame. Some dark areas on the underside of the frame that may be plating loss, top displays well. Sold as found, all pieces seem to fit well, not positive that metal top originated with base but it is appropriate and a good fit.
