An extraordinary piece of fashion history by McQueen himself. Designed for the AW08 “The Girl who Lived in the Tree” collection, now regarded as one of his best, the garment features romantic-inspired fabric extensions at the cuffs and neck combined with McQueen’s immaculate tailoring. This shirt in particular appeared on five looks and an identical black variant appearing on another five looks from the forty-two-look collection. In all of these, the fabric extensions were tied into a cravat at the neck and similarly at the cuff, although the possibilities are truly endless. The garment is primarily constructed from cotton, with alternating buttons and hook-and-eye clasps at the front, horizontal darts at the waist, and a vertical pleat at the back. The hem has also been cropped, but in my opinion makes it all the more wearable. Aside from some moderate discoloration at the neck and shoulder, the piece is overall in good condition. Listing primarily as an interest check as it’s difficult to consider parting with it. A true collector’s item that combines everything McQueen was known for. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
