A group of seven 1950s period Christmas cards sent by Joan and Sir Basil Spence (the important British architect). Four have moveable features - eg the door opens or Basil and his cat become visible inside windows, etc. One of Basil as a dog seems to be all done in pen and ink (two colours) - this was probably done by Basil rather than Joan. Some of the other cards may well have been written by Joan.
Sizes vary - largest (Basil and cat inside window) 22.5 x 17.5 cm - smallest (Basil as a dog) 11 x 8.5 cm
