In 1967, Nhà Xuất Bản Giải Phóng (Liberation Publishing House) released three volumes of sketches titled "Miền Nam Việt Nam - Đất Nước, Con Người" (Southern Vietnam - Country and People). 

These works were created by six young artists, Cổ Tấn Long Châu, Lê Văn Chương, Huỳnh Phương Đông, Thái Hà, Lê Hồng Hải, and Nguyễn Văn Kính, who were trained in art schools within liberated zones. 

Living and fighting alongside revolutionary forces, these artists documented the daily life, struggles, and resilience of the people in Southern Vietnam during the war. Their sketches, made with pencil, ink, watercolor, and pastels, vividly captured the courage of Southern Vietnamese civilians and fighters, the diverse forms of resistance, the beauty of the landscape, and the atrocities committed during the conflict.

The artworks were intended to strengthen the bond between the people of North and South Vietnam, serving as both a morale booster and a visual record of the war’s realities. They were distributed in liberated areas across both regions and internationally, providing a rare and intimate glimpse into the lives of those enduring the war’s hardships.

While the publishing house was based in Hanoi for security reasons, the address was never printed on the publications due to the clandestine nature of their operations. The prints were labeled simply as "Nhà Xuất Bản Giải Phóng" (Liberation Publishing House) without a specific location, to protect the operation from enemy forces.

The "Miền Nam Việt Nam - Đất Nước, Con Người" series was produced as part of the cultural and propaganda efforts of the National Liberation Front (Viet Cong). The artists worked under harsh conditions, often at the front lines, and their works were used to inspire resistance and solidarity. The publishing house itself operated in secrecy, with its true location in Saigon only revealed after the war.
