Lapis lazuli is an aggregate mineral. The ideal stone features a deep, uniform royal blue color with minimal white calcite veins. The signature golden or brassy flecks that enhance its value are inclusions of pyrite.

Because I make a lot of my own jewelry, I can appreciate the amount of work that went into the composition of this necklace. And it’s pretty! The main stone is a crescent-moon-shaped lapis lazuli. She is the bride. There is also a cluster of three round lapis lazuli stones mounted on the upper part of the pendant section of the necklace. Six oval lapis lazuli stones mounted in the chain section, serve as bridesmaids, and five teardrop lapis lazuli stones dangle from the bottom of the center piece. The finishing chain is a string of alpaca silver heishi beads. The closure is a simple hook. There are no markings or stamps.

I have had this piece for about thirty-five years, and it had already clocked a number of decades on this earth before I inherited it. If you are wishing there were earrings to match, and you are willing to sacrifice some of the original design, it would be a simple matter to take off two of the teardrops and finish them with ear wires. It would also be easy to add an extension chain to the necklace. I am happy to do either for you if you do not have the means and materials. It is 24” long. The pendant measures 2” across.

Because the base metal of this piece is alpaca silver, it doesn’t tarnish like pure silver does, but it has taken on a vintage patina. I will leave any cleaning to the new owner.

If this necklace had belonged to a movie star, it would have gotten out more, but because both its previous owners were teachers, not many worthy occasions arose over the years. I have treasured it but feel like it’s time to find it a new situation.

Please note that I do not ship outside of the continental U.S. I do combine postage. Place desired items in your cart and request an invoice, or message me and I will create a custom bundle for you with the combined postage. I wish the shipping cost was more reasonable, but in order to be provided with the required tracking information and insurance, even small packages traveling via USPS Ground Advantage cost an average of $9.
