Known colloquially as a “split panel” set, this uncommon early 20's battery radio -- comprising a single-tube receiver on the left and a two-stage amp on the right -- was manufactured in Boston MA by the little known Radio Specialty Co, which perhaps was hoping radio enthusiasts might confuse it with the world renown Wireless Specialty Company, manufacturers of military receivers, tuners and test equipment -- and also located in Boston.
Condition is excellent. The radio and amp chassis are clean, and their panels are undamaged. Clean original finish on the cabinet, with clean original cabinet hardware. Original binding post assemblies, original panel screws, original AF transformers (both test good), original rheostats, etc. All three tubes have good emissions.
I've powered the set up with an ARBEIII, and it's not responding, which leads me to speculate that despite its immaculate condition, there appears to be an open connection somewhere. If you can track down a schematic, there's a good chance you can get the radio to work with a bit of patience and circuit-sleuthing, but it's being offered here for historic/collecting purposes only.
