Notes: Chrysler Corporation, Published 1946. Hardcover, 98 pp.; 21 cm; illustrated with black-and-white photographs and color plates. In Very Good condition, no dust jacket. Green cloth boards, textured, with gilt lettering on front cover; mild shelf and edge wear with a hint of color loss along edges and spine. Binding tight. Signed in ink at the foot of the title page by a previous owner. Otherwise pages clean and unmarked. An account of radar and Chrysler Corporation's part in developing and mass-producing the SCR-584 anti-aircraft gun-laying radar, published just after wartime secrecy on the subject was lifted. Author Wesley W. Stout (1890-1971) was editor-in-chief of The Saturday Evening Post from 1937 to 1942 before writing a series of wartime histories for Chrysler, of which this is one; foreword by Chrysler president K.T. Keller. Chrysler's Central Engineering office produced the final production design of the SCR-584's antenna and drive mechanism, and roughly 1,500 units were built at the Dodge plant. Illustrated with photographs and color cutaway renderings of the radar mechanism alongside wartime scenes.
