Green and white illustrated paper covers, bright and clean, with light shelf and edge wear, a touch of bumping to the corners, and a hint of toning along the edges. Perfect-bound (glued) binding has grown brittle and is beginning to pull away at the rear cover, but remains intact and holds firm. Interior printed on toned pulp stock as issued; pages clean and unmarked, with mild toning to the inside front cover. Number 29 in Newton K. Gregg's Train Shed Cyclopedia, the reprint series that returned scarce nineteenth- and early twentieth-century railroad references to print for model builders and rail historians. This issue reproduces the freight-car section of William Voss's Railway Car Construction (R.M. Van Arsdale, New York, 1892): eighty full-size pages of scale detail drawings covering freight car bodies, draw-bars, floors and framing, sheathing and roofs, doors, stock, flat, coal, ore, and refrigerator cars, arch-bar and swing-motion trucks, and freight car brakes. A standard bench reference for scratch-builders modeling the wooden freight cars of the 1890s.
