Several small chips and short tears at edges and corners; moderate toning, spotting, and soiling. One-inch vertical tear at the spine, repaired with tape; slits of about 0.5 inch at the head and foot of the fold. Interior music pages clean and unmarked. Australian edition, published in Sydney by J. Albert & Son and authorised for sale only in Australia and New Zealand, with the pre-decimal price of 2/6 on the cover; the common editions of this sheet are the American (Robbins) and English (Francis Day & Hunter) printings. Sung by Ann Blyth in the 1951 M-G-M film The Great Caruso, in which Mario Lanza starred; Lanza's recording reached number three on the Billboard chart that year. The melody was adapted by Irving Aaronson from Juventino Rosas's 1888 waltz Sobre las Olas (Over the Waves), with a lyric by Paul Francis Webster. | |||||||||||||
