Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica triangular plate (width approx. 21 cm) - hand-painted in Denmark.

Flora Danica is Royal Copenhagen's most prestigious and elaborate service, first created in 1790 and still entirely hand-painted today. Every piece depicts a botanically accurate wild plant copied from the famous Flora Danica encyclopedia, finished with a reticulated (pierced) gold-and-pink border, gold beading and a hand-gilded scalloped rim.

This piece: a rounded-triangular plate, width approx. 21 cm, with a delicate pierced openwork border and a beautifully painted viola (violet) study - leaves, flowers and roots. The Latin botanical name is traditionally inscribed on the reverse, which also carries the Royal Copenhagen three-wave mark.

Condition: Pre-owned, generally good. There may be minor wear or light marks consistent with long storage - please review all photographs closely, as they are of the exact item and form part of the description. No original box.
