1976 Takamine F-365MS Jumbo Acoustic which would be a copy of the GUILD F50-Standard model
8/13/26- Been playing this beauty on a regular basis!! WOW This guitar is one of the Straightest builds for a Jumbo I have ever played! No typical Bulge at all in the Top, Neck angle is Perfect and Neck is as straight as an Arrow! Most importantly IT IS A ABSOLUTE CANNON!!! Just Keep hitting it with a pick harder and harder and She just Keeps On Giving you More and more Sublime Clear crisp thunderous tone!! This Guitar does not Disappoint at all, in my book! I have had lots of Jumbos over the Years and this one by far has the most ThUnDeR bAnG...For the Buck!! Awesome Takamine and we all know Takamine has always been known for their Consistent quality and Righteous Tone! For being 50years old and such an Early High Quality Model along with having Hirade Himself overseeing Production you simply cannot go wrong with this Gorgeous piece of Guitar History! Not only is it Considered to be a Lawsuit Copy of High Quality it also is one of Takamine's Earliest examples put out there for World Wide Distribution!
The Strange part about that Guild model is that USA Guild never a model Spec'd Like this particular Takamine Lawsuit Style Guitar until the 2000's! This Guitar has the same Timber Spec's as Guild's with its solid Sitka Spruce Top and Flamed Maple Build only instead of Guild's Arched Laminate Flamed Maple back with No Braces, this one Uses the Traditional Braced Flat style Flamed Maple Back The big difference is actually the Thickness of the Lam on each guitar, the Guild with no Braces used a Heavier thicker lam than what Takamine used on their Braced Flat back version! Making this Takamine IMO Just as Thunderous if not more Thunderous than the Guild! The Quality of Hirade's Influence on Takamine's Build is Quite Clear on this particular Jumbo! The neck angle is Great with plenty of saddle and better than average Action along with its perfectly Flat top under String Pressure just oozes High Quality Takamine and its from Takamine's 1st full year of world wide Export too. Making this piece of guitar history with its Lawsuit Copy Style one for the Vintage Collector that wants one that plays and sounds as good as the original(Probably better :-) ) and will do nothing but Appreciate in value
Anyway in 1975 Hirade The well known Guitar builder becomes Takamine’s president and launches efforts to bring the companies instruments to a much wider audience. Takamine guitars soon become available worldwide. Making a Guitar like this 1976 Model a very early example of what Hirade's Guitar building skills starting doing for Takamine and the Global market and both being at the beginning of the High Quality Japanese Guitar Revolution that helped shape the Guitar world at the time and now quickly becoming a Lucrative Vintage Guitar market as well with youger musicians as well as older ones looking to find that guitar they had when they were a kid in the 70s and 80's. The cool thing about the Quality of these Vintage Half a Century old Guitars is that most with the proper player restore like mine where I only work on what makes the guitar play like the Neck, Machine heads, Truss Rod, Frets, fretboard, Nut and saddle all either conditioned, Lubed, set or restored to perfection by me, spending close to 16 hours on this one making sure one by one each Fret is secure, leveled, reshaped to spec and polished to perfection. I even gently resurfaced the Jacranda fretboard with 1000 Grit steel wool and oiled it. Lubed the Truss rod which had never once been adjusted in 50 years until I did it. Adjusting it for the 1st time meant it really works rather well and was easily set for perfect straightness. I even took the original Bone saddle and Dialed in the Intonation by shaping the saddle with a small file by hand. The Bone nut just needed a slot cleaning
