I AM NOT SELLING A KIT OR MODEL, only a new, full-size PLAN copy of the 28" PDQ FLYING CLOWN with personal annotations to help build a durable model.

The PDQ FLYING CLOWN old time stunt kit was a classic back when Pop was a boy. He put an Ohlsson & Rice .23 in his and learned to loop on it. We still have that original model in the workshop. You can see that 70+ year old model pictured hanging over a set of PLANS. It still has the old, old Ohlsson & Rice .23 in it. The wing span for this profile design is 28". Any .15 engine will work just fine. 

The original PDQ kit did not have full-size plans in it (see picture # 10) so Pop hand drew this PLAN for John Pond. He and Pop swapped PLANS for several years. You can see the many footnotes from Pop’s experiences with the model and notations about its weaknesses so you can add a little strengthening here and there. Until this hand-drawn plan was created for John Pond there was no plan available from which to build after the kits went out of production. 

In December 1949 Air Trails magazine named the new FLYING CLOWN kit as the Model of the Month. I have, and include, a copy of the first page of the article, but unfortunately I don’t have the second page. If anyone has the second page I’d love a copy. Please let me know!

My 9th picture is of the original pressed cardboard front fuselage doublers that came in the original PDQ kits. Not only did they fail to add any strength to the profile fuselage, but they also got fuel soaked and would start swelling and coming apart. As they did not come back to mid-wing the nose would snap off after becoming fully soaked with fuel. Remember: epoxy glue had not been invented at that time. These weaknesses led to the use of thin plywood on both sides of the fuselage extending back at least to the high point of the airfoil and was included in every firm's kits that came out after that.

Some may have wondered how the flying clown differs from the 1948 Megow flying circus since the designer of the two models is the same man. I have added a picture of the flying circus plan which I list separately. Keep it in mind for a future build.
