U.S. Army's 1st Battalion, 32nd Armor Regiment (1-32 Armor) served with the 1st Cavalry Division, here's a brief history:

  • Unit: 1st Battalion, 32nd Armor Regiment (1-32 Armor)
  • Division: 1st Cavalry Division
  • Assignment: Assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division in 1986 at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos), Texas.
  • Role: Heavy armored battalion equipped with main battle tanks (initially M60A3s, later M1 Abrams tanks), serving as part of the division's armored combat force during the late Cold War and Operation Desert Storm era.
  • Combat service:
    • Participated in Operation Desert Shield (1990).
    • Fought in Operation Desert Storm (1991) as part of the 1st Cavalry Division's advance into Iraq.
  • Reorganization: During the Army's modular transformation, 1st Battalion, 32nd Armor was reflagged in 2005 as the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, carrying forward the lineage and honors of the 32nd Armor Regiment.

The 32nd Armor Regiment's lineage dates back to 1941, when it was redesignated from the 2nd Armored Regiment. It earned campaign honors in:
