DESCRIPTION:

This auction is for a lot of 128 vintage Tru-Vue filmstrips and an antique ivory/cocoa brown bakelite Rock Island Tru-Vue reader circa 1950 with the original instruction card. These belonged to my grandparents who owned a toy store in Chicago in the 1950’s/1960’s - this was their remaining store stock. Victoria and Louisville each appear twice, so there are 126 distinct films. Condition is excellent; these were store stock. The viewer functions properly. Films are clean and complete in their original boxes (except Little Orphan Annie/Blondie). Minor age-related wear to a couple of boxes. These have been carefully stored in a closet. There are many rare titles in this lot, for example:

A Night at the College Inn shows an early-1940s Chicago nightclub with backstage chorus-girl scenes, Hollywood Personalities shows images of Cary Grant, Spencer Tracy, Mae West, Randolph Scott and other performers. Santa Claus’ Workshop for Boys shows the American Flyer train factory, Movies in the Making contains unusual behind-the-scenes 3-D photographs from early-1940s movie production, and Movie Stars’ Homes includes residences associated with Jack Benny, Wallace Beery, Pickfair and Jane Withers. There is also the Goldilocks cartoon issue (#210), and Mississippi River Showboat, Smilin' Jack, the complete New York World's Fair series (1206–1212), and Army Life Today.
