AN OBSOLETE PIECE OF EARLY MILITARY ENGINEERING
An original First World War-period British No.80 Mk VII brass artillery fuze, retaining its numbered graduated ring and clearly stamped period markings.
This is an obsolete historical object offered solely for collection, display or use as a substantial decorative brass paperweight. It is not offered for any practical, military or operational purpose.
The fuze has the distinctive tapered form associated with the British No.80 pattern and is constructed predominantly from heavy machined brass.
Around the lower section is the original numbered graduated timing ring, marked from 0 through to 22 and divided by finely engraved increments.
Additional engraved symbols, adjustment openings and individual component sections remain visible around the body, demonstrating the precision engineering involved in its original manufacture.
The underside is marked No.80 VII, together with B.M.Co and RMC markings. Further stamped numbers and inspection-style marks are also present.
The brass has developed a warm, aged surface with extensive machining marks, scratches, knocks and darker patination accumulated over more than a century.
Weighing approximately 895 grams, the piece has a substantial feel and now makes an interesting historical desk object, cabinet display or heavy brass paperweight.

CONDITION
Presented in well-used antique condition with extensive signs of age, handling and previous service.
There are numerous scratches, knocks, abrasions, surface marks and areas of darker patination throughout the brass body.
The numbered graduated ring remains present and the engraved figures are generally clear and legible.
The base retains its stamped markings, adjustment openings and retaining screws, with age-related wear and discolouration throughout.
No cleaning or polishing has been undertaken, allowing the piece to retain its authentic aged appearance.
