Original Freddie Mercury promotional photograph issued in 1987 by Mighty Tape Ltd. in association with Parlophone Records. The striking monochrome studio portrait was photographed by Peter Hince, Freddie Mercury's long-serving road manager, personal assistant and photographer, whose images have become some of the most authentic and sought-after records of Queen during the 1980s.
The portrait shows Freddie Mercury seated in a classic studio pose wearing a waistcoat and bow tie, taken during the period surrounding the release of his acclaimed solo album The Great Pretender and his continuing work outside Queen. Officially produced for publicity and editorial use, the photograph bears the original 1987 copyright, photographer credit to Peter Hince, and Parlophone logo.
This example originates from the Shields Gazette photographic archive, where it was retained for newspaper editorial reference. The reverse is blank apart from a handwritten archive filing date of May '87, confirming its provenance as an authentic period publicity photograph rather than a modern reproduction.
Original Freddie Mercury promotional photographs from his lifetime are increasingly difficult to obtain and are highly desirable pieces of Queen and rock music memorabilia.
Very good condition with minor edge wear and light creasing consistent with age and archival handling.
Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
