Poems in four groups drawn from the poet's South Side childhood, her Florida years, and the performance circuit. Distributed by P.H. Press, the Chicago imprint of The Puddin'head Press, founded 1985 and still publishing today. Several of these poems had already appeared in Hammers, Voices Alive and Women's World and had been recorded for Poetman Video; the back cover carries a 1982 endorsement from Del Close. Rose Virgo, a native of Chicago's South Side, built her reputation on the city's performance circuit (beatnik-style readings, slams, concert poetry and poetry video) and went on to a long career as a multimedia artist under her trademarked Performance Poetica, listed on the Illinois Arts Council Agency Artstour roster. Her one-woman shows combine live poetics with her own films, and her subjects include the Celtic Coda series, Irish-American Tales and Chicago Stories. Her Hemingway Letters film, built on previously unpublished family documents including letters to the writer's estranged sister, drew an endorsement from the Ernest Hemingway Foundation in Oak Park. The rhythmic training this book's own note credits to her years as a dancer and choreographer was in Irish dance: she has been a certified and registered A.D.C.R.G. adjudicator of the Irish arts since 1972.
