Up for sale is my beloved 1984-85 Fiorentina long sleeve jersey (or sweater, as it is not made of modern-day polyester). My father brought this home after a business trip to Tuscany. I am the only one to have worn this shirt.
In the late 80s, two main social groups roamed the halls of high schools in North Jersey, Guidos strutting in IOU sweatshirts, Cavariccis and Travel Fox. Burnouts donning denim jackets with the latest Metallica album airbrushed on the back and ripped jeans. Then me, standing out like a sore thumb in this glorious purple beacon replaying Giancarlo Antognoni highlights from Sunday's Novantesimo Minuto all week long in my head. But I didn't care because Roberto Baggio debuted and nothing else mattered.
Now it's your turn to own a piece of calcio folklore. This shirt has not been worn since the early 90s. There is some crack and peel in the Opel logo. The Fiorentina crest and NR embroideries are holding up well in a true sign of Italian craftsmanship. I would say the 46 size is close to an adult medium. How many long sleeve versions are still out there?
Please see the photos for shirt details. I have taken a photo of the spot where it has discolored a tad.
This shirt is 22" from armpit to armpit and 28" from shoulder to bottom. Probably best to describe it as a roomy medium but a snug large.
