Hasegawa kit 08057 / ST7 represents the famous U.S. Navy carrier fighter that became one of the dominant Allied aircraft of the Pacific War.

Product description

The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a carrier-based fighter aircraft developed by the U.S. Navy to replace the F4F Wildcat. Designed for combat against the Japanese A6M Zero, the Hellcat combined a powerful engine, heavy armament, rugged construction, and excellent carrier handling characteristics. It became the Navy’s primary fleet fighter during the latter half of World War II.

The Hasegawa kit depicts the F6F-3/F6F-5 variants, covering the main production versions of the Hellcat used during WWII.

Historical background

The F6F Hellcat entered U.S. Navy service in 1943 and quickly became the main carrier fighter in the Pacific. Hellcats were credited with destroying more Japanese aircraft than any other Allied naval fighter type during WWII, with reported totals exceeding 5,100 Japanese aircraft destroyed.

This is an older but well-regarded large-scale Hasegawa aircraft kit, valued mainly for its impressive 1/32 size and classic Hellcat subject.
