The Medal: An official French military decoration established in 1982 to reward honorable service and operational deployments. It is issued in three grades: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The Troupes de Marine Connection: Soldiers and officers serving in this elite branch wear a specialized clasp or bar (agrafe) on the medal's ribbon bearing the text "Troupes de Marine".
