Antique late-Victorian centrepiece bowl, possibly a trophy / presentation piece, or for serving salads, nuts, etc.  It has a coopered oak wood base, with silver-plated banding and ornate handles and three zoomorphic feet.  It has a blank shield cartouche to each side.  I can’t see any maker’s marks.  It measures approx. 27.5cm in diameter across the rim, or 33cm across the handles, and is 15cm in height.  In good overall condition – there are some separation gaps between the wooden staves, so it wouldn’t hold liquids.   The silver plate has rubbed through to the brass in places, giving it a yellow hue, and there is tarnishing and some dried white cleaning fluid residue.
