On offer is a nice example of the book titled "Shirley Temple" by Jerome Beatty. This is an authorized edition published by The Saalfield Publishing Company of Akron Ohio and New York, and printed in the United States. It is a first edition dating from 1935. The book is an account of Shirley Temple's early life, and her career as a child star. Please take a good look at the pictures as they form part of the item description.

The book measures about 23cm x 17.5cm. It contains 107pp bound in coloured pictorial hard boards with a blue cloth spine. There are pretty black and white images on the endpapers at the front and back of the book. It is illustrated throughout with black & white photo pictures, and one colour image opposite the title page. There is some separation here and there at the spine, but none of the pages are loose or missing. There are no rips, large creases or repairs to the pages.

The book shows signs of wear and tear commensurate with age and use. The pages are tanned, and they have some age marking, and a few grubby marks from use. The covers a bit faded, and are bumped and rubbed on the corners and edges as pictured. The spine is good but is discoloured, and age marked. There is a name inside the front cover, and a further 1936 inscription on the back of the colour plate.

The book is not in mint condition so if you're looking for perfect this is not the book for you. However, despite the cosmetic faults this is still a beautiful vintage book that makes wonderful reading. It displays well, and will be a delightful addition to any collection.
