This new, old stock set of 12 organdy cocktail napkins and 12 cordial glass slippers originate from Madeira, Portugal and are highly regarded for their intricate hand embroidery and fine organdy construction.  The strawberry motif is a classic design element from the mid-20th century, often associated with elegant garden parties and formal home entertaining.  The set includes both square napkins and round cordial glass slippers or coasters that showcase the skilled needlework characteristic of Madeira exports from the 1940's to 1960's. Collectors value these items for their delicate craftsmanship, decorative appeal and historical significance as examples of traditional European embroidery work.  This is a complete set, never used with no tags, but with their original one-stitch thread that binds them together.  Each napkin measures 6" square and each slipper measures 3-1/2" in diameter.  There are a couple of small yellow spots and also some paper tag residue on the top napkin only and the first six napkins have a pin hole in one corner where a plastic brad was most likely used for a price tag at some point.  Beautiful and rare set of 24 pieces in excellent condition.
