Vintage Solid Brass Mid-Century Modern Atomic Starburst Door Escutcheon

Up for sale is an incredible piece of original Mid-Century Modern architectural hardware. This is a PAIR of heavy, solid brass door knob backplates that feature a striking 8-point atomic starburst (or Sputnik) design that perfectly captures the retro-futuristic Space Age aesthetic of the 1950s and 60s.

Key Details:

Design & Scale: A dramatic, oversized starburst measuring approximately 10 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide, featuring four long points and four shorter points. The center ring features the standard alignment notches for installation behind a door knob rosette.

Material: Unlike the flimsy stamped aluminum reproductions, this is a premium, heavy cast solid brass piece weighing in at a substantial 9.5 ounces.

Finish & Condition: It currently features an older painted gold/mustard finish. It shows authentic vintage wear, including some chipping to the paint that reveals the solid brass underneath. The back shows natural age and tarnish. It is structurally solid with no broken tips. It could easily be used as-is for a great distressed look or stripped back to the original brass to match a high-end MCM restoration project.

Whether you are restoring a mid-century atomic ranch, upgrading a statement door, or collecting retro architectural salvage, this solid brass piece is a fantastic find.
