Original WWII USMC Navy Paratrooper "Rigger" Jump Cap Wings Sterling Harry Wosk
Very nice original item. Construction in gilt die-stamped sterling silver. Measures 1-1/2" in width for a garrison cap wing. Pin-back design with 45° pin and U-catch. Marked on reverse 1/20 GF ON STERLING. Also, tested as sterling silver. Excellent condition with beautiful toning, gilt nearly 100% present, very light physical wear to the badge. On original HARRY S WOSK card with price tag from his WWII era San Diego surplus store.
The wing was designed by AMICO in 1942 and was officially known as "US Navy Certified Parachute Rigger Badge" and was awarded to graduates of the US Navy parachute rigger school.The wing was unofficially worn by some USMC parachute qualified marines during WW2, they were officially required to wear the army jump wing after completing army parachute training.
This model has feathers, not berries in the wings and is very well detailed. Interesting early wing.
