Antique 1930 Stewart Tabletop Phonograph (1910s Box / General Industries Motor)

Stock # 63026ZL-15191116656

 Item Description
Up for sale is a unique, historic piece of early audio history: a vintage **Stewart Tabletop Phonograph Cabinet (circa 1910s)** with a classic quarter-sawn oak case.

This machine features a fascinating history. The underside of the wood motor board retains its original stamped factory marking reading **"STEWART PHONOGRAPH"** (manufactured by the Stewart-Warner Speedometer Corp. of Chicago). Reflecting the early global trade of the talking machine era, the nickel-plated rear tone-arm bracket collar is explicitly stamped **"GERMANY"**, where Stewart sourced their high-quality export hardware.

The original weak factory motor was historically upgraded decades ago with a highly reliable, heavy-duty American **General Industries Co. (Elyria, Ohio) "JUNIOR" Single-Spring Mechanical Motor** (dating the retrofit to 1927 or later). The original top-deck speed regulator plate shows wear and tear and does not have a needle.

 Condition Report (Please Read Carefully)
* **Untested Status**: The mechanical spring motor and hand crank are being sold entirely **UNTESTED** and as-is. It does appear to wind, spin and checked the internal gears and governor springs which are greased and moves with ease.
* **Missing Parts**: The machine **does NOT include a needle**, and the attached reproducer/soundbox is **incomplete** (it is missing its faceplate, needle arm, and mica diaphragm casing). You will need a replacement soundbox/reproducer head to play audio shellac discs.
* **Cosmetic Condition**: Excellent structural shape for its age. The oak wood has standard surface wear, minor scuffs, and grease staining on the interior wood paneling matching its mechanical service history. No major cracks or missing wood panels. All metal hardware exhibits an authentic vintage patina.
