Pour la forme. Ebauche d'une méthodologie des arts
Extremely rare good clean copy 1958 in French
L'Internationale Situationniste, Paris
This is the true first edition of Asger Jorn's seminal theoretical work published in Paris by the Internationale Situationniste in 1958. The book compiles crucial essays and experimental notes written by Jorn between 1954 and 1957, documenting the critical transitional period between the CoBrA movement and the formation of the Situationist International. The text is written entirely in French and is accompanied by numerous black and white illustrations, diagrams, and reproductions of Jorn's artwork throughout the text block.

Condition: the front cover remains flat and clean, with expected uniform age-toning across the cream paper and minimal surface soil near the top edge. The back cover shows matching edge-toning along with two minor, faint brown stains along the left and right margins. This is a perfect-bound volume, at front cover is partially de-attached (see photo), at rear it remains firmly attached. The spine edges show light rubbing but no structural splitting. Internally, the book is exceptionally clean. The half-title and main title pages show no signs of foxing, ink markings, or corner creasing. The internal pages display crisp black text and sharp printing of the art plates with minimal handling wear. The page edges are square and free from dog-ears. Note to buyer: If you would like to see close-up photographs of the spine extremities or confirmation of the binding tightness at the center signatures, please let me know and I will gladly provide additional images.
