Each bead is handmade from rich cherry-red Faturan Bakelite with a beautiful translucent, cloudy butterscotch swirl visible under light—a highly desirable characteristic among collectors.

The Bakelite has been positively tested: it produces the characteristic formaldehyde odor when rubbed, gives a brown trace with the Semi-Chrome polish test, and develops a strong electrostatic charge.

The beads are diagonally drilled, allowing them to hang as striking three-dimensional cubes when strung.
