# Vintage 1950s Richards of Sheffield Interchangeable Pocket Knife Tool Kit

Up for sale is a fantastic piece of mid-century British craftsmanship. This miniature pocket tool kit was manufactured by the world-famous Richards of Sheffield in England during the 1950s. It features an incredibly clever modular design that packs an entire toolset into a compact, pocket-sized profile.

### 🛠️ Kit Features & Materials

* **The Handle:** Shiny silver-tone, chrome-plated brass "shell" handle featuring an iconic mid-century geometric pinstripe design.

* **The Blades:** Three (3) original interchangeable Sheffield high-carbon steel attachments that easily snap into the handle. Includes a sharp Clip Point penknife blade, a combination bottle opener/cap lifter with a flathead screwdriver tip, and a Philips head.

* **The Case:** Original dark brown faux-alligator/reptile embossed leatherette pocket case with clear, heat-sealed interior organizer slots.

* **The Famous Snap:** The case flap is secured by a highly collectible, authentic "NEWEY ENGLAND" stamped brass snap fastener.

### ⚙️ Mechanics & Safety

* **Lock Type:** Traditional non-locking slipjoint mechanism. The blades do not mechanically lock; instead, they are held securely open by heavy-duty internal spring tension.

### 🔍 Condition Report

This kit is in excellent vintage condition for its age!

* The internal spring is nice and snappy, holding each tool attachment firmly in place.

* The high-carbon steel tools show a beautiful, authentic aged patina but are free of heavy rust, deep pitting, or damage.

* The vintage Newey snap closure clicks together tightly and holds securely.

* The faux-reptile case is intact with only minor shelf wear.
