An amber glass target ball from Gevelot Paris with a snake like line between the wording. These are know in blue, green and amber. These were the forerunners to clay discs and were filled with feathers, straw, sawdust etc to show when the were shot
It measures 67mm (2.6") in diameter and 71mm (2.8") tall with the neck. Condition is pretty good (short crack from the top of the neck that run down about 25mm into the body (to the top of the second diamond up from the central band), slight chip off the edge of the ground lip and some slight nibbles on the top of the lip. The top lip and top lip edge chips are probably caused when the lip was ground at the factory - see photos)
These would date from around the 1870-1900
