Valentina Tereshkova is the first woman to fly in space on Vostok 6. 

Valentina Tereshkova, under the call sign “Chaika” [Seagull] became the first woman to fly in space, on Vostok-6, the final Vostok flight. She is the only woman have flown in space solo, was the first ever civilian in space, and is still to this day, the youngest woman to have ever flown in space, being only 26 at the time.
